Things to do

‘Belle Vues’ location in south Vendée is one of the sunniest and most visited parts of France.
This is not by accident. The fact is that there is anormous amount to do and see here.
From relaxing on the beach to adrenalin pumping sport, beautiful château and scenery to hi-tech theme parks, quiet cafés to gastronomic cuisine – you’ll find it all here.
Following is just a small selection of the choices you’ll find here.

Cycling

The Vendee coast has two great advantages to offer cyclists: its hot climate and its lack of hills! Cycle paths are evident throughout the region.

Le Puy Du Fou

We are very furtunate to be only about an hours drive from‘Le Puy du Fou’, which is both France and europes, second biggest attraction.

It is described as an ecological and historical theme park, but in truth, being the only event of it’s kind, it really needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Beaches

The Vendée is famous throughout France for the quality of its fine, sandy beaches. The sea is warm, shallow and very clean, particularly good for children. Some have lifeguard cover during the summer months.

Out of season, when the wind picks up, the same beaches can provide interest for surfers, wind surfers and sailors. The area also has some designated naturist beaches. As the beaches are on the large side, they seldom feel crowded, even during the height of summer.

Aquarium

The Aquarium de La Rochelle is situated in the heart of the city. Opened in 2001, it is one of Europes largest and is open every day on the year.

It takes on average, 2 hours to walk around this vast exhibition. There are 65 tanks displaying 10,000 Atlantic, Mediterranean and Tropical species in 3 million litres of water

Fishing

The choice of fishing in this part of France is staggering. It is just 100 metres to the nearest canal which is packed with fish, and is ideal for beginners and regular anglers alike, and 5 kilometres from the Sevre Niortaise estuary. We also own a two acre, private carp lake, situated alongside a stretch of small river just 35min up the road.

Restaurants & Food

There are two excellent restaurants in the adjacent village of Champagné les Marais, just 3 kilometres from here.

Luçon has a variety of restaurants serving dishes from couscous to spring rolls to frogs legs to seafood to steak……….and everything in between.

Water parcs

There are many water parks all along the coast

Indian Forest

The Indian Forest is what the French call an adventure park!
It is free to enter, but once there you’re bound to want to have a go at one of the many activities. Actually there are two of these parks both close by.

Birdwatching

Puyravault is on the edge of the Baie de L'Aiguillion, close to the Ile
de Ré. Trips can be organised to the bird reserve of St Denis du Payré
where it is possible to see white storks, the Baie de L'Aiguillion (les
mizottes) and Ile de Ré . There is a very high concentration of birds of pray due to the thousands of miles of canals and ditches and pastureland. In the garden I have seen black redstart, hoopoe etc.Barn owls fly over our garden almost every evening.

Golf

Belle vue is ideal for golfers as outside the peak holiday season, prices are lower, but with our mild, sunny climate, spring and autumn produce excellent golfing weather.
