Baie D'Aiguillon The Baie D'Aiguillon (Aiguillon Bay) is located north of La Rochelle on France's west coast and is one of the most important wetlands in western Europe. The bay is a large intertidal inlet which offers excellent feeding grounds for shorebirds. Behind the bay are extensive marshes with intersecting dykes. The area is very good during passage with autumn bringing in up to a quarter of a million waders, many of which subsequently over-winter. Several duck species also winter in the area. Summer species
